If changes need to be made to a document stored in AdvisorEngine CRM, the following shows your options and steps for updating stored files.
Online Document Editor
If the file is a compatible type (DOC, DOCX, and a handful of other text-based formats), and the changes relatively simple, you can use the CRM Online Document Editor to make your changes.
- Locate the file you need to edit in the Global Document Workspace or the Record's Document section.
- Use the quick menu on the document row to to select Edit Document Online. The document will open in the Online Document Editor.
- After making your changes, click Save & Replace in the upper left (on the Home tab).
Editing the File Locally
If the file type is not compatible with the Online Document Editor or the changes are beyond the editor’s functions, you will need to download the file, edit it on your machine, and then replace the file in AE CRM with the the steps below.
- Locate the file you need to edit in the Global Document Workspace or the Record's Document section.
- Use the quick menu on the document row to select Download File to save the file to your local machine. (See File Not Downloading When Selected if this control does not appear to be working.)
- Open the downloaded file on your computer to make and save any needed changes.
- In AE CRM, use the quick menu on the document row to select Edit File Properties for the file you downloaded.
- In the File Properties dialog, click Select File.
- Navigate and select the file on your local machine that you saved changes to.
- Click Save & Close.
- Click Continue to confirm replacing the file.
