Workflow Templates with Multiple First Steps

All Workflow in AdvisorEngine CRM must have one and only one initial Parent Action. However, your firm may have a process that begins with multiple initial steps. To build a Workflow Template that accopmlishes this goal:

  1. Begin Creating a Workflow Template as usual.
  2. Add a Blank Action as the first step.
    1. Fill in the details as though it were a “Title Card” for the Workflow, the notes can simply explain the purpose of the entire Workflow.
    2. Mark Action Required and assign to <Employee Creating Action>.
  3. Use the Add Related Action menu from the first step to add as many first Actions as your Workflow Template requires.
  4. Save and close your new Workflow Template.
  5. Reopen the Workflow Template for editing
  6. In the Workflow Template details, select First Step completes automatically on add.
  7. Continue to build your Workflow Template as usual until complete.

When the Workflow Template is used, the first Action will automatically be completed and the user will be prompted to add all the Actions that are immediate children of the first step, effectively allowing you to kick off multiple Actions at the same time.
