When you create a new record, there is the option to link to an existing individual. This is great for avoiding duplicate persons for situations where the same person has multiple roles in different entities. 

When you do this, you are prompted to select "Relationship to Record." Which seems like a great and easy way to connect one record to another.

EXCEPT turns out that is a "legacy field" that doesn't actually serve any purpose, so you still have to MANUALLY go in and add the relationship connectors between the records. 

Seems like AE built a really straightforward solution and then just made it more difficult for the end user. Would be great if we didn't have to enter information twice.
