While I know that JD is not AE, JD had a vast selection of global pre-built reports that were not record specific-  in AE, the pre-built reports are lean with limited functionality.  And there's a dearth of global reports, such as-  show me all the actions that fall between action ID 302546 and 457063.  There doesn't seem to be any way to do that.  There seems to be no way to do ANY database wide reporting that is not tied to some specific record or grid list.  There is no master list of pre-built reports.  Running a new report, if it even has the columns/tags/specifics you want, takes weeks-  at least in my case.  I'm still waiting on ones I tried to get two weeks ago.  Meanwhile that functionality is instantaneous in JD and exports to excel or pdf in a second.   I'd love Action IDs to be searchable, and I'd love to click a couple times and see the info I am looking for, instead of creating something that is only 50% of what I want.
