IMPORT tool to update record data
Re-surfacing this topic... It is so unnecessarily time-consuming to update some data in the system. The top of my wish list is to be able to bulk-edit user-defined fields (and other fields) via an import. We've created these fields to give us valuable information that doesn't have any other place to live, but it's such a headache to maintain when we have to edit hundreds of records one by one. Some examples of what we track in the user-defined fields and would want to update via an import:
- Advisor Team Change date - we like to know when the last time we changed someone's advisor. Sometimes we change 40-50+ clients at once if we hire a new person or someone leaves, so being able to change them all at once would be nice. (And, an IMPORT tool would be more helpful than the record data change tool so that we can make different changes across all of the records at once)
- Scheduling URL - same as above - we sometimes change 40-50+ clients at the same time if their team changes
- Fee Change Date - we also keep track of when a client's fee changed last. We usually do a firm-wide change once/year, so we have to update the date on 300+ records when we do that
We also want to use a user-defined field to easily see what a client's fee is (outside of the financials). We haven't done that yet because of the pain it is to maintain that data one by one. When we make those firm-wide changes noted above, it would be great if we could just do an import to update every client's fee at once.
